yeaahhh!!! We really made it in NY .... !

"“We’re in a situation of such austerity that many prisoners don’t even apply for prison leave because at least their meals are paid inside,” Mr. Rebelo said. “It’s the first time I’ve seen this, but it seems families just don’t have the means to welcome prisoners back at home.”"

6 Good Reasons To Fire An Employee
(or 5 Reasons that will make indispensable)

"Every manager that needs to fire someone first needs to be able to give concrete examples of how the person didn’t live up to at least one of these five qualities:
1. High Performing: Yesware is not a family, it’s a high-performing team. We have to deliver results at a world-class level. People who don’t, in the words of Netflix's CEO Reed Hastings, should “Quickly get a generous severance package.”

2. Motivated: Everyone who gets through our interview process is excited for the opportunities ahead. But we all need to maintain, and even increase, our motivation in the months ahead. Bravery is required. We won’t all feel motivated and brave all the time. But we value people who are passionate about our work and motivated to lean in further.

3. Growing: Change is inevitable, especially at a fast-moving company. We need to be comfortable with change and eager to improve our abilities. We need to keep our skills growing at pace with the company. As fast as Yesware is growing these days, this is the quality that I personally have the biggest risk of getting fired for not exhibiting.

4. Honest and Clear: This quality encapsulates both the legal and ethical requirements of honesty. Clear means an absence of political agendas, duplicity, talking behind others’ back and so on. We are who we represent ourselves to be.

5. Kind: There is a lot of pressure at Yesware, and tensions can run high. We all have a lot at stake and our customers are demanding. We need to be kind to ourselves, to each other, and to our customers—even when the pressure is on. We do not tolerate racism, sexism or other types of inhumane and baseless discrimination."

How to become a CEO: first learn how to fire people and close things

"Managers must be able to maximize productivity from lean staffs and diminished resources. They must be able to grow big but keep costs small. Ultimately, CEOs are on just as short a leash as everyone else."

" There’s a lot more hiring people with management consulting backgrounds, and fewer from banking backgrounds. Companies are a lot more gun-shy than before on executing mergers and acquisitions. Companies are focusing instead on how to grow, they want someone who can do some percolating, someone who can control costs. They are less interested in buying other companies."

Your emails are not nearly as private as you think.

"The downfall of CIA Director David Petraeus demonstrates how easy it is for federal law enforcement agents to examine emails and computer records if they believe a crime was committed. With subpoenas and warrants, the FBI and other investigating agencies routinely gain access to electronic inboxes and information about email accounts offered by Google, Yahoo and other Internet providers.

“The government can’t just wander through your emails just because they’d like to know what you’re thinking or doing,” said Stewart Baker, a former assistant secretary at the Homeland Security Department who’s now in private law practice. “But if the government is investigating a crime, it has a lot of authority to review people’s emails.” ...."

Why Google Went Offline Today and a Bit about How the Internet Works

"November 6, 2012
Today, Google's services experienced a limited outage for about 27 minutes over some portions of the Internet. The reason this happened dives into the deep, dark corners of networking. I'm a network engineer at CloudFlare and I played a small part in helping ensure Google came back online. Here's a bit about what happened.
At around 6:24pm PST / 02:24 UTC (5 Nov. 2012 PST / 6 Nov. 2012 UTC), CloudFlare employees noticed that Google's services were offline. We use Google Apps for things like email so when we can't reach their servers the office notices quickly. I'm on the Network Engineering team so I jumped online to figure out if the problem was local to us or global.
I quickly realised that we were unable to resolve all of Googles services — or even reach, Googles public DNS server — so I started troubleshooting DNS.....

Ensinas-me fazer tantas perguntas
Na volta das respostas que eu trazia
Quantas promessas eu faria
